Field Trip Wed and Tue, Jan 24 and 31

Two field trips yet await, for January.


First, a Chinese New Year celebration with LINC Levels 1 and 2 at the Mandarin Restaurant (lunch buffet at $12.99) on Wednesday, Jan. 24, after the morning session:

Then, next Tuesday, on the last day of the month, we're going on our long-awaited ski trip. Stay tuned for details of the prefit day. The location is Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre (at Earl Bales Park--see map below) near Bathurst and Sheppard. There's free parking available, but those coming by bus should meet at the Sheppard Yonge Station's Bus Interchange to catch the westbound Bus Service 84 at 9 a.m. Don't be late! Skiing lesson ($21 per person) starts at 10 a.m., and everyone's free to enjoy the following:

1. Cozy fireplace in a chalet
2. Coffeeshop with fabulous hot chocolate and scrumptious street meat
3. Busy rental shop, with boots, snowboards, skis, poles, and helmets
4. Bunny hill with rope tow and "magic carpet"
5. Blue ski hill with chair lift
6. Cute City of Toronto instructors in red uniforms and goggles
7. Ski patrollers
8. Ticketing office and counter selling timed and season snowpasses
9. Nearby community centre and Holocaust memorial
10. Glorious, if thin, snow, both natural and artificial, for multiple photo opportunities!
