The Heavens Still Declare

Some people say if only God would yell loud enough to them, they'd listen.

Maybe the problem is with people's hearing, not with God's voice. Check this out:

What did King David say around 1000 B.C.?
The heavens keep telling   the wonders of God,
   and the skies declare
   what he has done.
    2Each day informs
   the following day;
   each night announces
   to the next.
    3They don't speak a word,
   and there is never
   the sound of a voice.
    4Yet their message reaches
   all the earth,
   and it travels
   around the world.
   In the heavens a tent
is set up for the sun.
Now, wouldn't it be great to hear the rest of the message?

Great ideas, but how to make money?

At the end of the keynote on the importance of being flexible towards the unpredictable and creating benchmarks to facilitate business choices and decisions, some guy asked how it was possible to turn the activity of benchmarking itself into profitability. Although not quite answered satisfactorily, such were the questions considered at this year's Innovation Camp, attended by MicroSkills participants, including Hamid, Talaat, Xiuli, Sarah, and Esther (with Peter!).

Happy surprise, our class alumna Vivi was there, too, covering the event as business reporter and marketing representative for Norstar Press Inc.!

Make sure you talk to our happy campers when you see them in class on Wednesday!

Nadine w. commented 4 hours and 43 minutes ago If you’re thinking about taking kids along I’d highly recommend it. Last year I took two little kids (2 and 1 and a half) and they just loved it!

Manny commented 4 hours and 22 minutes ago Your website only list children from 5 years. I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old. Are kids under 5 permitted onboard? If yes, what is the cost and how does this groupon apply to that?

MerchantDamian G. commented 4 hours and 11 minutes ago Yes kids of all ages can come sailing, Kids 4 and under are free.

Nadine thanks for your kind words glad you and your kids had a great time.
Did you see that? Kids four and under are FREE! Sail before September 25th. The number of tickets available is limited. For more information, click on the following link: Boat Cruise.

Don't forget to introduce your friends and get $10 back when they buy.

    FB Page for City Lubbers

Does the thought of staying overnight outdoors frighten you? Do you fret about wild animals paying you a visit--black bears, mosquitoes, snakes, creepy crawlies? What about the sun or heavy rain? Or noisy neighbours? Maybe what you're looking for is a cushy camping experience, all safe and urban, not too far from home and yet fun for the kids.

For those of us who are from the city and are not too comfortable with staying out in the country, there's this Facebook page called EZ Camping Tips for Torontonians. Feel free to sign up there and share your fears and dreams of the great Canadian outdoors. And remember to post some of your pictures when you're done camping.

    Have fun!

    Jobs, Jobs, Jobs

Our week on the theme of Job Search culminated nicely today at the Scarborough Civic Centre, where two Councillors hosted their yearly job fair. As before, this one was well-attended and provided tangible employment opportunities from both public and private sectors.
Councillor Michael Thompson addresses the sea of people with Councillor Glenn DeBearemaker next to him.
Participants had the opportunity to query employers, submit their resumes or applications, pick up brochures, survey the employment landscape, and pocket the free mementos at each display.

Talaat and Xiuli, a couple of brave MicroSkills participants!

We also did our part of helping remove souvenirs and brochures from selected booths:
