While it's still snowing and freezing cold at this time, it's not too early to think about summer, a time when many Canadians put their out-of-school kids in summer camps so they'll stay out of trouble and out of their hair. A lot of businesses are cutting back, but some soccer camps are expanding to new locations all over Ontario, Alberta, and B.C.
Here is one camp that is calling for volunteers, whom they describe as follows:
Volunteers are often former campers at Super Summer Soccer+ Camp but volunteering is open to virtually anyone. Being a volunteer is often the first step towards becoming a staff member at the Royal City Soccer Club. Volunteers are treated like staff and expected to maintain a good work ethic by assisting all staff onsite and providing a fun and safe learning atmosphere for campers. Volunteers should be energetic, enthusiastic, responsible and a team player. Volunteers are required to watch a short volunteer DVD prior to camp.If you would like to apply for a paid position, you're free to do so as well.
So, instead of sitting at the sidelines and hiding under the shade, let it be a summer like no other. Come run with a bunch of kids chasing a ball across the field and learn how to yell like a crazy Canuck. If you don't know how, the kids will teachya! Learn the hottest cheers and jeers, and the coolest compliments and insults. And you, geezer parent, may even show them a move or two.
